A place where the past meets great hospitality
Set in Attleborough, Breckland Lodge offers a calm, well-crafted experience rooted in comfort. Its signature carvery is the highlight, slow-roasted meats, crisp potatoes, and seasonal vegetables served with care. Pub classics like hand-battered fish, steak and ale pie, and indulgent puddings are equally well-executed. Add to this thoughtfully designed rooms offering quiet, restful stays with crisp linens and a touch of understated charm. A space where everything simply works well.

Take a walk with us, back in time
Standing beside the great Norfolk roads that cut cleanly through the Breckland, Breckland Lodge has long played its part as a place of pause and refreshment. Developing over time as a welcoming roadside hotel and pub, it became a familiar landmark for motorists, families and locals, valued for generous plates, comfortable rooms and a distinctly unpretentious warmth coupled either a reputation for quality and consistency.
As Attleborough grew and traffic patterns shifted, the Lodge adapted, expanding its facilities while keeping its easygoing character intact. In 2018, a serious fire threatened its future, but determination, investment and no small amount of Norfolk resilience saw it carefully restored. Today, Breckland Lodge continues its quiet tradition of hospitality, practical, welcoming and reassuringly familiar, offering travellers a sense that they’ve arrived somewhere that knows exactly what it’s for.

Attleborough & Thetford
Attleborough is just lovely, full of charm, with market town warmth and winding streets lined with history. Thetford, just a short hop away, is rich in heritage, with ancient ruins, expansive forest, riverside walks, and a touch of wild beauty. Together, they offer a delightful blend of countryside calm and quiet discovery. It’s all rather peaceful, wonderfully British, and just the sort of place you’d happily stumble upon and never quite want to leave.
